Disease Ecology and Control
Science, policy and practice of rabies prevention
I am a Reader in the Institute of Biodiversity, Animal Health and Comparative Medicine at the University of Glasgow. I am interested in the ecology of infectious diseases, particularly rabies, with the aim understanding infection dynamics across spatial scales and the impacts of control efforts. I use a combination of detailed field investigations, vaccination interventions and modelling.

SCIENCE
My interests are in the ecology of infectious diseases with a focus on rabies. My aim is to understand infection dynamics across scales and the impacts of control efforts, using field and molecular epidemiology, vaccination interventions and quantitative analytical approaches.
Our work is supported by
POLICY
Together with an amazing group of collaborators, our team undertakes science that informs policy decisions and shapes advocacy agendas. This work has helped catalyse funding for elimination projects, inform vaccine investment strategies as well as national and regional control programmes around the world.
PRACTICE
We conduct practical research working with government partners, NGOs and international agencies. We have explored the design of vaccination strategies, the implementation of surveillance systems and evaluation of the impacts of rabies control and elimination programmes.
